Barry Himmelman has been the
third-generation leader of
Himmelman Construction since
1993. He acts as principal on most
projects and leads the pre-construction
services department.
Himmelman has 24 years of combined
construction and construction
management experience. “I can still remember when we had
to estimate bids manually using an adding machine,”
Himmelman said. “Technologically speaking, things certainly
have changed for the better.”
Himmelman predicts steady yet manageable growth for the
company in the years ahead. “This company is going to be here
for my kids, and their kids to follow,” he said.
Himmelman earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration
from Ft. Lewis College, after which he joined the
company. Since then, he has made his way up the ranks to become HCI's President and CEO.
Following an exhaustive search for a
highly qualified CFO, the company
discovered and hired Lisa Fesler in
2008. Lisa has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
from the University of South Dakota. Lisa Fesler
brings several years of large project
accounting and construction job costing experience.
Dana Himmelman, Senior Project Administrator/Corporate Secretary
The wife of Barry J. Himmelman,
Dana Himmelman, is also an officer
and owner of the firm. Dana has
controlled the Project Administration/
Engineering department since
graduating from college with a
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. “I
came on board to support Barry
with the family business and help the company
be successful,” she said. “I really enjoy the construction
industry and helping out subcontractors and our clients.”
Dana handles insurance compliance, subcontract management, project
documentation, shop drawing review and routing, product submittal
management, specification compliance, lien waiver acquisition,
invoice routing and issuance of as-builts, among other duties.
She and her husband have three children: Colton, 19; Travis,
16; Jessica, 14.
Kirk Askelson has been with the
company for several years in the
capacity of Project Manager. “I like
working in a tight-niche environment,”
Askelson said. “I feel
I’m an important part of the team
and I appreciate the fact that we have good, honest relationships
with the owners of our projects.”
Askelson has a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management
from Colorado State University.
A Colorado native, Ray Rauh has spent the majority of
his life as a framer and business
owner. While working as a subcontractor
on a Himmelman
Construction project, an HCI superintendent
impressed with Ray's work quality & ethic, told Rauh to call HCI if
he ever wanted a change. “It was
time for me to switch gears in my
career, so I did,” Rauh said. “I’ve been glad from the get-go to
have been hired by HCI. It’s refreshing to be with people who
don’t bend the truth. They do what they say they’re going to do,
and it’s a great group of people to work with.” Rauh has been a Superintendent with the company for over
seven years.
Scott brings over 10 years of Project Management and Construction Management experience to Himmelman Construction. “While working in design and architecture, I realized how much I enjoyed the construction phase of the project and wanted the next step in my career to focus on getting a project built. I have a great respect for Barry Himmelman and have completed some of my most successful projects with them as the contractor. It’s exciting for me to now be on the construction side.” Scott holds a degree in Architecture Design and Drafting from Northwest College.
“For me safety is top priority and something that can’t be overlooked! I am proud of the safety program we have at Himmelman and the culture that has transpired. Everyone takes safety seriously. It is top priority on all of our sites.” Prior to joining Himmelman, John worked for a concrete pumping company for 12 years. John has over 25 years experience in construction and safety, and is an integral part of quality control at all of our jobsites.
Becky has been working in the commercial construction industry for over 25 years. She graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. From Field Engineer to Project Manager, Becky has been involved in every stage of the project. Currently, she works as Himmelman's Lead Commercial Estimator.
Mr. Pat Nevin began his construction career in 1972 as a Carpenter's Apprentice, and worked his way up to Superintendent. He has built schools, retail, multi-family, office and mixed-use facilities. Mr. Nevin is well-known among our clients for his proactive approach to planning, scheduling, and timely completion. He can be counted on to take control of the project and manage all onsite activities from ground-breaking to closeout. Mr. Nevin holds a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management from University of Denver.
